During the weekend 19th/20th February 2000, The Association of Central Southern Motor Clubs will be hosting a Beginning in Motor Sport Weekend at Rushmoor Arena, Aldershot.

Based around introducing newcomers to the world of club motor sport, part of the weekend (Saturday) will feature a 'Live-Action' 1 mile Sprint Course laid out and run in accordance with Blue Book regulations. It will be fully staffed and be designed to allow competitors a fantastic facility to test both car and driving skills in a safe and fully controlled environment. Public admission will be by low-cost programme for those wishing to spectate at any of the 3 viewing enclosures alongside the ample car parks.

This is a unique chance to shake down the car, the driver and register for the ACSMC/ASEMC Rally 2000 Championships whilst enjoying a bit of pre-season testing. Each entrant will be given a minimum 4 runs and thereafter 'extra runs' can be purchased at additional cost. Servicing etc. will take place in the adjacent Pegasus Village Exhibition Area, which will also host a number of Trade Stands, as well as a large contingent of Club displays. It must be stressed that this is not a competition and will not feature awards or results. Refreshments will be on site all weekend although those wishing to entertain sponsors and friends may wish to take advantage of the special arrangements made at The King Edward Restaurant and Tavern Bar at the nearby Potters International Hotel. A wide range of accommodation is readily available very close to the venue.

Details of the various speed events comprising the ACSMC Speed 2000 Championship and the ACSMC Sprint Challenge 2000 Series will be available from the organising clubs as will most senior event officials. MSA Noise and Technical Officers will be in attendance for those requiring advice or helmet certification etc.

Please be aware that this exclusive event is open only to those who register as contenders of the ACSMC Speed Championships (advance registration forms available on request) and will be restricted to the first 50 participants on a first come - first served basis. Due to the nature of the venue, only 'saloon type' cars are permitted.

Anyone wanting further information should send an A5 stamped addressed envelope to the address below. Those wishing to reserve their place immediately should include a £25 deposit cheque, made payable to ACSMC (refundable on cancellation up to 1st February). Full cost will be advised once insurance arrangements are finalised.
