Give me what you've got!

For my sins, I stepped forward at the wrong time and found myself in the slot that looks after the Club's Press and PR interests. Don't get me wrong, it's something I am going to love doing, especially for such a venerable and active car club as the SCC. Just to put your minds at rest, I've been in the PR business a long time; Porsche Cars, Silverstone Circuit, Arrows GP, Reynard, Kenny Roberts' 500cc GP bike team are just some of the companies I've worked with.

My brief is to publicise the Club, its activities and its competing members, in the main, to entice more members into our fold and more spectators to our events.

Maybe it's because I'm either an inveterate show-off or inherently insecure, but it gives me the biggest buzz, for myself and the story subject, to see articles I've written or an event I've publicised appearing in the media. This is where I need your help, I can't spirit features out of mid air!

Obviously, I'll know about upcoming events we are organising but I will need stories from you all, especially regarding your competition exploits. Funny stories, success stories, charity fundraising adventures – as long as they relate to the SCC, I should be able to use them in the Club's local Surrey media or, if they are utterly exciting and momentous, in the motorsport or motoring magazines.
